If I had one word to describe Cancun, it'd be WET. We have had some crappy weather here in Cancun, but at least it's not cold. I am getting quite sick of riding my bicycle in the rain though.

At our hotel, the Cancun Plaza Condo hotel, we are getting exactly what we paid for at $50/night. Hard mattresses, stained sheets, mismatched patchy towels, leaky AC, ants, and no hot shower water. We do have a kitchen and I plan on making my oatmeal tomorrow morning, if I can find some at Walmart (yes, Walmart in Cancun). There just aren't any grocery stores down on this section of the Hotel Zone since most of the hotels are all-inclusive. Staying here would have been more manageable if it were only 2 or 3 nights rather than 6. I have learned my lesson!
The section of road between our hotel and the host hotel has many other hotels under construction... so there are a lot of sketchy construction workers whistling and cat-calling every time we go by. Kind of ridiculous, they don't seem to get much work done.

The team race on Wednesday (ITU Elite Team World Championships) was really fun and I earned a hefty paycheck. We chose a good order for our team (Sarah Groff, Mary Beth Ellis, then me) that maximized our strengths and helped us earned the 2nd place. I had a solo effort on the 250meter swim/6.6k bike/1.6k run course since it spread out so much. I'm glad though - the Spanish anchor is a quick runner and although it was only a mile run, I was a bit worried about her catching me. The Italians won, which was okay because they seemed to really take this seriously. Honestly we were aiming for a good workout before the race and to have fun racing a relay format.
So after being here since Tuesday I am really ready to race. I am not afraid of jellyfish (I already got stung on Wednesday!), I'm not afraid of rain (it's rained EVERY day) and I'm not afraid of running hard in the heat/humidity. I am pretty excited and ready to get it over with!
